Itinerary:

This first-of-its-kind trip is the launch of our partnership with fine wine tourism specialist Invina who provide the alchemy that can only be achieved from genuine behind-the-scenes access.

The Barossa is Australia’s most renowned wine region, famous for its magnificent wines ranging in style from blockbuster reds to ethereal and aromatic whites. Experience the culture of the Barossa, its people and its wines and take home the stories of a lifetime on this encounter, guided by famous local storyteller Jane Ferrari, supported by wine production insiders and experts Nick Dry and Darren Oemck

Jane, Nick and Darren have unparalleled connections with the people of the Barossa and so while we can’t guarantee the appearance of winemaking royalty, don’t be surprised if some appear to say ‘g’day’.

Day 1: (The First Families of the Barossa)

We will pick you up from Adelaide Airport and drive to the Barossa in style, just in time for a pie or pastie (from the legendary Apex Bakery) and a glass of vintage sparkling on Mengler’s Hill overlooking the breathtaking Barossa Valley. A relaxed start to a whirlwind three days of local experiences, exceptional wine and gourmet food.

It’s a family day, with Jane taking you to her old haunt at Australia’s oldest family-owned winery Yalumba for a tour of the museum wine cellar, followed by a tasting of their rare and fine wines matched with a local charcuterie platter. The ‘insiders’ theme continues in the afternoon, as Jane takes you deep behind-the-scenes at the iconic Henschke family wines for a tasting of their distinguished wines.

Accommodation is at the Barossa’s most exclusive ‘The Louise’, which is part of the Baillie Lodges group, known also for Capella Lodge, Silky Oaks and Longitude 131˚. The Louise has recently undergone a ‘multi-million dollar glam-over’ and offers guests a ‘stylish escape’ in their private villa-style suites. You will be spoiled by exceptional service and sublime surroundings.

Dinner is a very short stroll from your rooms at one of Australia’s finest dining experiences, Appellation restaurant. We have been working closely with management to organise a culinary experience that will set a new standard in food and wine matching.

Day 2: (The big guns)

We are not travelling far today with all the activities just a stone’s throw from the accommodation. After breakfast you have a choice of relaxing at the Louise or going for a walk over the road to visit the award-winning Seppeltsfield Road Distillery, to meet the team and learn a little about the art of distilling (and taste some gin!)

After a gentle start, we will literally get in the dirt! A soil pit tasting with ‘2019 Gourmet Traveller Viticulturist of the Year’ and consummate communicator Nick Dry, who will take us into the vineyard to see what’s underneath the vines of the Barossa‘s famous Western Ridge.

Next, we’ll be head a little further up the road to the incredible Seppeltsfield village, where Jane is back on board for a tasting of your birth year, followed by lunch and matching wines at FINO restaurant. You’ll also have time to explore the famous Jam Factory craft and design studios.

We finish the day at the opulent Torbreck, to sample their blockbuster wines. We’ll show you some of the oldest vines on the planet and get you into the winery to see where the magic happens.

Today, if you want to up the ante you can pay a little extra to taste a 100-year-old tawny or Torbreck’s famous 100 point 2005 first ever vintage of ‘The Laird’.

Dinner tonight is at the earthy and charming Greenock Pub, local hangout for the region’s winemakers and vignerons. The surroundings are the perfect opportunity to catch-up with one of our winemaker mates for a casual tasting over dinner. We also encourage guests to bring an interesting bottle from their personal cellar to include in a game of ‘wine options’

Day 3: Australian wines most famous drop

The morning on Day 3 is your time. We can arrange a bike ride, a few holes of golf or a walk in the stunning Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park. We can also make arrangements if you want to squeeze in one more tasting with us. If you have a particular preference we can arrange, or you can let us surprise you!
We are then back to Adelaide for lunch, more specifically global icon Penfolds Magill Estate for an exclusive Grange and friends tasting, a behind-the-scenes tour of the historic site and a long lunch. This is the perfect place to lose an afternoon

Tonight you will stay at Adelaide’s most exclusive Eos Hotel, dining on Peel street at the Clever Little Tailor for tapas and matching wines. Following dinner, we can explore the eclectic mix of bars and clubs in the surrounding laneways.

Day 4: Adelaide

Start your last day with breakfast at Eos and then the day is yours until we transfer you to your flights. To get your imagination flowing, we can organise an exclusive fitting at RM Williams, a tour of the historic Adelaide Central Markets, a roof-top climb and wine tasting at Adelaide Oval or a visit to an Opal merchant or a Haigh’s Chocolates store.
